Flying Lotus is the latest addition to the Plug roster. This LA prodigy walks the tightrope between the raw and rich production with expert precision. Lotus a.k.a. Steven Ellison, brings beats with a cinematic flare: “I see these tracks as little short films that play in my head.” Lotus has had several of his beats on Adult Swim and most recently on MTV’s “Run’s House”. Lotus is a part of the Coltrane lineage, but don’t write this off as nepotism, ‘cause he aint riding on anyone’s coattails. But, if you really MUST make the correlation between A Love Supreme and A Lotus Supreme, dig: If Alice and John had lived in the era of SP-303s and laptops, they’d be flirting with the same muse as Lotus is.

Ellison's album 1983 (Oct '06) is his first on Plug Research.
